20 October 2007 started with overcast skies, but by 1030 hours when the MSC House Flag was hoisted along with Old Glory and the San Leandro Yacht Club Burgee, the sun came out and we had a beautiful day. Tom Grabow and Hai Ly got the Bar-B-Que fired up, Mom manned the sign in desk, Tony DeVenuta and Ladana Luellen helped Mom and I get the food set up and by 1100 hours the “Sea Stories” were flowing. I would like to thank all of those who helped with set up and clean up. Thanks to SLYC Dale Snearly and Randy Kalie who kept things flowing.

People came from long distances, i.e., Ireland, London, Mexico, Arkansas, Oregon, SOCAL, Bay Area and Valley. Some arrived via their own vessel at the SL Marina and some of the active CIVMARS came from their ships. There were at least 16 CIVMARS, Retiree’s,Ashore and Afloat who came to a Reunion for the first time, several who thought they would not know anyone but were pleasantly surprised in renewing friendships.

We had a wonderful surprise when Rosemary Knecht presented a beautiful picture she painted of a fisherman and his boat to be auctioned off. Thank you very much Rosemary. Karl Faulkner was the successful bidder. Rosemary says next year she will paint a Light House. Jack Anderson and Chuck Burger designed and built a beautiful burl desk plaque and presented it to me and my Mom for our efforts keeping the reunions going. George Bruno presented a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Thanks to all of you.
